Treatments

TCM Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine methodology originating in ancient China that treats patients by manipulating thin, solid needles that have been inserted into acupuncture points in the skin. According to traditional Chinese medicine, stimulating these points can correct imbalances in the flow of Qi through channels known as meridians.

Current scientific research indicates that traditional forms of acupuncture are more effective in the relief of certain types of pain.

Electro-Acupuncture

This practice augments the use of regular acupuncture, can restore health and well-being, and is particularly good for treating pain. For the most part, there is insufficient scientific evidence regarding the safety or efficacy of electro-acupuncture.

Electro-acupuncture has demonstrated benefit for chemotherapy-induced acute vomiting.

COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE

Cosmetic Acupuncture or Acupuncture facelift is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs of aging and revitalize whole body. It is based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, which involves the insertion of very thin disposable needles into the acupuncture points on the face.

MOXIBUSTION

The application of mild heat to the body, again at particular points, with glowing moxa wool (a finely chopped herb —folium Artemisia), entirely painless and comfortable. It helps blood and lymph circulation and maintains good health.

Hot Cupping Therapy

The procedure involves placing glass cups over specific points on the back and then heating them to create a vacuum. It unblocks lymph nodes alone the spine, which in turn helps the body to work more efficiently.

Massage / Tui Na

Massage is the manipulating of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibits motor-neuron excitability and promote relaxation and well-being.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbs can be used to treat a wide number of health conditions and symptoms.  Chinese herbal medicines are mainly plant based and come packaged as powders, pastes, lotions or tablets, depending on the herb and its intended use. Different herbs have different properties and can balance particular parts of the body.

Comments

I was a new client and was given an appointment at very short notice. I found the acupuncture very relaxing and the massage afterwards was deep and just what I needed. I look forward to future visits.

Brilliant service! The acupuncturist even allowed my husband to sit in the room durin the treatment. The consultant talked through my health issues and took the time to explain the benefit of the treatment. Very relaxing atmosphere will definitely be going back.

I went to The Bodyworks Practice for acupuncture and Tui Na massage to help with tension in my shoulders and neck as well as digestion problems i have been having. The treatment was fantastic, I feel I have much more energy and my digestion is so much better. I will be going back again and would like to try some other treatments as well.

I had both acupuncture and Chinese massage for my osteoarthritis and although aware the condition cannot be cured, was very pleased witrh the results - albeit. Temporarily. The young lady was very professional and very good at her job. I have a further appointment on Monday, 29 June 2015, so I must obviously have been. Pleased with my initial treatment.

I had 30 mins of acupuncture and then 30 mins of massage for a long standing RSI problem. Fair to say that not fully recovered from it but after one session I have so much more movement in my arm, neck and shoulder. Thank you Dorothy.

I saw Dorothy for acupuncture for three months after I had struggle to get pregnant and had noticed I ovulated very late in my cycle. Dorothy was always very helpful and friendly and made me feel immediately at ease. On the third month after balancing my energy she used some stimulating acupuncture. That month I ovulated much earlier in the month and I am now in the early stages of pregnancy which I believe was helped through the acupuncture I had.

I had a tui na massage for an hour. The receptionist was very pleasant. The therapist was very professional and compared very favourably with massages I have had before. In addition the room was very relaxing and I will be visiting again.

I saw Dorothy for fertility acupuncture after almost 2 years of trying to conceive. She was professional, friendly and willing to answer all of my questions, however minor. After just 2 sessions, I fell pregnant and am now in the very early stages - I don't believe this to be purely a coincidence. Dorothy helped with my circulation and gave me hope at a time when I thought conceiving naturally wouldn't be possible for me. I still have a long way to go, but I owe getting this far to Dorothy and for that I will always be truly grateful.

I have only been to the Bodyworks just the once but have prebooked and paid for a long course of acupuncture on the back of my one visit. Karl is very friendly and knowledgeable and also very quick to reply to any communication and my treatment was carried out in an understanding and very professional way by Dorothy. All in all i am looking forward to returning on a regular basis to complete my treatment and improve my health.
